I really like how she was a gay mentor for Cole. At first she didn't like the idea and thought it was wrong but later on she apologises to Josephine for being closed minded. Diana seemes shocked and taken aback by this. When Aunt Josephine gives a speech at the party, she mentions her love for Gertrude and how wonderful she was (as she often does) one lady in the crowd says that the two of them are her 'romantic ideal'. Anne takes it very well, she kind of just goes 'Oh!' And doesnt think anything of it When Anne realizes that Josephine and Gertrude slept in the same bed she understands what she meant when she said that they were married in their own way.
In season two she throws a party that Cole, Anne and Diana go to. She told Anne that they were 'married in their own way'. She talks a lot about her best friend Gertrude who passed away. She takes a liking to Anne and her quirky personality. How is she part of the LGBTQ+ community ?Īunt Josephine shows up in season one and is described as a cold woman that is hard to deal with.
Aunt Josephine is the Great Aunt of Diana who is the best friend of the main character, Anne.
